Honor Magic 5 and 5 Pro Launched With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Flagship Cameras, and More
Honor today unveiled its "dual flagship" strategy, in which two product lines use the name "Magic" interchangeably. The conventional number series are featured in one product line, while the Magic V foldable is featured in the other.
We will examine the new Magic 5 and Magic 5 Pro for the time being, but not the Ultimate variant—at least not yet.
Honor Magic 5 Pro
The 6.81-inch display on the Magic 5 Pro is curved on all four corners. The LTPO panel has the same 1,312 x 2,848 resolution as last year's model, giving it a pixel density of 461 PPI and the ability to refresh at up to a highly variable 120Hz. It is a 12-bit panel with HDR10+ content capability.
With a bright f/1.6 aperture and a unique 1/1.12" sensor, the 54MP main camera module's capacity to gather light has been substantially improved. In addition, Honor added OIS to the primary camera, something the Magic 4 Pro lacked. Instead of f/2.2, the ultra-wide-angle (122°) camera features a brighter f/2.0 aperture.
Instead of the former 64MP sensor, the periscope module now has a 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor. The lens is brighter at f/3.0 (as opposed to f/3.5), yet it still offers 3.5x optical magnification.
The phone has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, which is coupled with 512 GB of UFS 4.0 memory and 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It is important to note that Honor has also included a lot of proprietary hardware in the device, which runs on MagicUI 7.1 based on Android 13.
With 66W wired SuperCharge and 50W wireless SuperCharge, a 5,100 mAh battery provides quick charging. The packaging contains the required charger.
The Pro model will start at €1,200 in Europe and come in the colors Black, Meadow Green, Coral Purple, Glacier Blue, and Meadow Green.
Honor Magic 5
The normal version of the Honor Magic 5 Pro has a few small flaws. It has a slightly smaller 6.73-inch display with a maximum HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, which is nevertheless more intense than the Magic4 Pro, its forerunner. With a 54MP primary sensor (1.49′′), 50MP ultra-wide, and 32MP telephoto lenses, the camera configuration is also unique.
The Magic 5's internal hardware is identical to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It is a little bit thinner than the Pro model, but it supports 66W wired SuperCharge and has a 5,100 mAh battery (but no wireless charging).
Just Blue and Black will be available for the vanilla Magic
